This Privacy Policy explains how I, the developer of "8 Billion," handle your information, as well as how your data is processed when it is sent to Grok, an AI service provided by xAI, through our app. I are committed to transparency and ensuring you understand what data is involved and how it is used.

Who We Are

"8 Billion" is developed by me, an independent developer. I do not collect, store, or process any personal information about you directly through this app. Instead, the app relies on xAI’s Grok service to analyze the information you provide.

What Data We Collect

When you use "8 Billion," you may input up to five characteristics about yourself (e.g., traits, preferences, or other details you choose to share). This app does not collect or store any of this information on our servers or devices. The characteristics you enter are sent directly to Grok, an AI service provided by xAI, via an API for analysis. We do not request or access additional data from your device, such as your name, location, or contact information.

How Your Data Is Used

The sole purpose of "8 Billion" is to send the five characteristics you input to Grok, which analyzes them to estimate how unique you are compared to the world’s population. Grok then returns a uniqueness result to the app, which I display to you. I do not use your data for any other purpose, and I do not retain it after it is sent to Grok.

Because I integrate with xAI’s Grok service, the data you input is subject to xAI’s data handling practices. According to xAI’s Privacy Policy:

Data sent to Grok may be used by xAI to provide, maintain, and improve their services, including training their AI models.

xAI may retain your inputs for as long as necessary for their purposes (e.g., service improvement, security, or legal compliance), unless you use features like Temporary Chat (not applicable here) or request deletion through xAI directly.

xAI does not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising, but they may disclose it to service providers or for legal purposes.

How Your Data Is Collected

The app collects your five characteristics only when you voluntarily input them into the provided text fields. This data is transmitted to Grok’s API immediately upon submission and is not saved by "8 Billion" itself. No other data is collected from your device.

I do not share your data with any parties other than xAI, which processes your inputs through the Grok API. Once your characteristics are sent to Grok, xAI becomes responsible for how that data is handled. I have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, xAI’s data practices beyond facilitating the API connection.

Data Storage and Security

"8 Billion" does not store any of your data locally or on our servers. The data you input is sent directly to Grok and is not retained by us. Any storage or security measures related to your data are managed by xAI. According to xAI, they maintain primary data centers in the United States and take steps to ensure data is processed securely, but we encourage you to consult their Privacy Policy for specifics.

Your Choices and Rights

Since "8 Billion" does not collect or retain your data, we do not offer data management options like deletion or access directly through the app. However, because your inputs are sent to Grok:

You can contact xAI at privacy@x.ai to request access, correction, or deletion of any data they may have retained from your use of "8 Billion." You can choose not to input sensitive or personally identifiable information into the app to limit what is shared with Grok.

Children’s Privacy

"8 Billion" is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 13, please do not use this app. If you are a parent or guardian of a child between 13 and 17, please supervise their use of the app and be aware that any data they input will be sent to Grok and processed under xAI’s policies.
